Adoption of the first 5 Implementing Acts

Great news! 🤸 The first five implementing acts under the revised eIDAS regulation have been adopted. This means that by 2026 at the latest, everyone will have access to a secure wallet. 📱

Secure – the act on wallet certification obliges Member States to mitigate the risks in an EU-wide risk register, which includes the requirement to address two threats:

• Threat TR123: An attacker directly abusing identity and attestation keys in the Wallet Secure Cryptographic Device (WSCD) without authentic instructions from the end user.
• Threat TR133: An attacker intercepting and reusing the end user’s authentication data towards the WSCD.

In recent years, our CTO Sander Dijkhuis has worked tirelessly for the community, developing concrete security requirements for these issues under the name SCAL3: Sole Control Assurance Level 3. (https://github.com/cleverbase/scal3)

Additionally, with our team he developed a remote WSCD solution that demonstrates compliance with these requirements using open standards.
